ACT FOR TRUE ENERGY AFFORDABILITY
Next week, the House Ways and Means committee and House leadership are holding listening sessions for Representatives about the Climate Rollback Bill (H.4744 An Act relative to energy affordability, clean power and economic competitiveness.)
Action Alert: Your calls and emails can help our Reps understand the truth about the causes of high energy costs and to promote the changes we need in the House bill.
Please make calls and send emails and calls today or Tuesday.*
If you have 2 minutes: use this link to a Mass Power Forward clickable email to quickly send a message to your legislator
If you have 5 – 10 minutes: Call and email your Rep (find contact info here). Then follow up with the Mass Power Forward email above or send your own email.
Sample script for a phone call, voice message or email:
My name is _________, and I’m a constituent of Rep _______.
I’m calling/writing to ask Representative {NAME} to please attend the listening session about H.4744 next week (or this week if you’re calling on Tuesday).
He/she needs to explain that the bill does not address the real causes of high energy bills. The utilities are diverting funds to replace gas pipelines for their profit. It is cheaper to repair the leaks and spend that money on the transition to clean electrical power.
In your email Include this link to a fact sheet about energy affordability and the climate coalition’s priorities to bring up in the listening session.
End with your name and address
