Martyn Roetter’s “Utilities Offering Us a Trojan Horse” for Commonwealth Magazine (July, 2022) points to the “dirty, dangerous, and costly” impacts of hydrogen blending. Because hydrogen is not a carbon compound like methane, it may sound like a gas that solves pollution problems. Unfortunately, burning it in our homes will also pollute, as well as entail higher costs and introduce increased safety and health risks. We have better ways to reduce harmful emissions.
